Quick Verdict

The Native M1 seems to offer great value for money. It provides alkaline and copper-enriched water with no complicated processes needed. The Native M2 or M2 Pro comes with advanced features that impressed us. Both products come with a 2-year comprehensive warranty that covers filters and membranes – a feature that is rare to find in Indian markets. Testing Process

We know buying a water purifier in India can be stressful. You worry about high TDS levels, safe borewells, and surprise annual maintenance charge charges. We try to address major concerns such as the following: Do the filters really last for 24 months? Is the app really useful? Does the water taste good? After testing Native M1 and M2 thoroughly, we have the answers.

We used a combination of municipal and simulated borewell water (TDS 300 ppm & 1200 ppm) for extensive testing over several weeks to mimic the daily water purification needs of a typical family. We also used a TDS meter, pH strips, and a timer to check flow rates.

Our Genuine Thoughts

When we unboxed them, we were happy. They don’t give away a cheap, plastic gadget feeling. We’ve hung them up on the walls and find that they can be accommodated comfortably in the standard-size corner of an Indian kitchen without sticking out much.

The 8-liter storage tank is made of high-quality food-grade plastic. We cleaned it thoroughly and didn’t detect much unpleasant smell. A few knocks at the main body reveal a sturdy build. The material is compliant with USA FDA standards, providing a good level of satisfaction regarding the aspect of safe usage.

The biggest difference in our daily routine usage is how one gets access to drinking water. We used a manual tap, and it was used for several weeks. M1’s mechanism is incredibly simple and seamless. One significant advantage of using this manual tap is that you can draw clean drinking water even during power cuts as long as the storage tank is full.

The M2 has a sleek, modern design. We liked the LED display and touch screen interface. We frequently utilized the ‘glass’ mode to obtain the exact amount of drinking water needed. The night glow feature comes in handy when making late-night visits to the kitchen, and the removable tray helps to easily fill bottles

Both M1 and M2 come equipped with a 10-stage water purification system. And it’s not mere marketing jargon. We fed dirty water with a high level of impurities and found that the sand and rust were eliminated efficiently by micron and sediment filters.

When we passed 1200 ppm TDS water (from a borewell) through it, the reverse osmosis filter reduced TD very effectively (check the numbers below). We verified the absence of bacteria in the UV chamber and found none. Every time we measured the water’s pH, it was alkaline.

You might wonder how they pull off a two-year filter life. It uses smart rinse technology. We could hear the machine cleaning itself at intervals to prevent clogs. The RO life booster works well too, as our flow rate stayed consistent for weeks.

The advanced features are available exclusively on the M2. We downloaded the Urban Company Native app to check the connectivity. Although it shows TDS levels on your smartphone, the level shown on the meter doesn’t accurately match the one displayed by the app.

The app tells you the status of your filters—something easier to understand than dealing with the blinking red light indicator on the device. It also tracks your daily usage—a convenient feature if you enjoy tracking details.

If all you need is only excellent quality water, then the M1 is sufficient.

Here are the numbers.

Let’s look at the numbers. We tested the municipal water, with a reading of 320 ppm, resulting in 75 ppm clean water, which is ideal. The borewell test recorded 1250 ppm as the input and gave us 120 ppm as the output.

We carried out a taste test with unpurified tap water and purified water. The pH range of native M1 and M2 water is between 7.5 and 8.0. The entire team agrees that the water tastes sweet and refreshing with no hint of any chemicals.

Coming to its performance capability, they can fill up 1 liter of filtered water in 3 minutes, considering it has an 8-liter tank capacity. The noise level of the filter pump is around 55-60 decibels. It is not completely silent, but it is quiet enough not to disturb a sleeping infant.

Price Analysis

When it comes to long-term costs, it fares really well. After analyzing, we found that m1 and m2 RO purifiers can provide great financial savings. A standard water purifier would come with an initial price tag of 12,000 rupees and an annual maintenance charge or service charge of 7000 rupees over 2 years, making the total price tag 19000 rupees.

The Native M1 has an initial price tag of 14500 rupees (approx.) and requires zero service or maintenance charges for 2 years. After 2 years, replacement of the filters costs around 5000 rupees. With proper maintenance, you can save big amounts on service charges for 8 years.

Native M1 Water Purifier: Advantages and Disadvantages

The M1 offers several advantages. It comes with a 2-year comprehensive warranty covering all aspects of the product and the 10-stage purification system featuring copper and alkaline technology. An 8-liter water tank capacity is suitable for small and medium-sized families, and the robust body construction can help to reduce long-term expenses.

However, it lacks a digital display, and the manual dispensing faucet appears simplistic compared to the M2.

Native M2 Water Purifier: Advantages and Disadvantages

The M2 comes with all the features of the M1 but adds a smart app providing you complete details about TDS levels. A touchscreen and multiple dispensing modes make performing our daily routine tasks easy, while the lamp guide and removable drawer add to a convenient user experience.

M2 is more expensive and requires a smartphone app, which could annoy people who don’t like contemporary technology.

So, which one to buy?

If you are looking for a great quality water purifier to use at home that can function efficiently without any issues, then choose M1. Good quality alkaline and copper are available at reasonable prices with M1, and as it doesn’t need any mobile application, it’s ideal for those who prefer to avoid such extra features.

You can opt for the M2 water purifier if you need to keep a track of the water quality parameters using your mobile device. It is recommended if you want the convenience of a touchscreen interface and are willing to pay a premium price for a good quality product.
